Front Porch Reveal
If you remember the last time I talked about the porch Lee had built it all and it was looking rather beautiful like this:
Since then, Lee’s sanded it all back, oiled it to keep it weather tight and then fitted the roof on it. We finished this back in September just before the weather turned (to be fair the weather was never brilliant this year!) and it’s held up really well for us.
This was one of these jobs that Ewan has loved, and he’s been out passing slates up to Lee and telling anyone who’ll listen to him that he ‘helps Daddy fit the roof’. We might sound like terrible parents!
Here are some shots of the roof going on:
The tongue and grove boards that form the roof from underneath
The membrane going on
The first row of slates (these are leftover from when we did the extension roof so match perfectly).
And without further ado this is how it looks now (with the big caveat of how much of a mess the surrounding house currently is. For the time being just imagine it all with beautiful fresh render!):
We’re so happy with the finished product. It’s really beautiful and it’s made such a difference to the front of the house already (even with the waste pipe, the skewed windows and the terrible render still to change).
